This minimalist teapot features artistic mini sculpture of Imperial Guardian Lion (also known as Shishi lion) on its lid. Traditionally, this huge stonecarved statue comes in pairs - a male and a female - regally stand in front of Chinese Imperial palaces, Imperial tombs, government offices, temples, and the homes of government officials and the wealthy, and were believed to have powerful mythic protective benefits.
Whimsical work of art yet completely functional, this Yixing-inspired teapot is 100% handmade by clay. Original Yixing teapots that are made of Zisha clay came to existence during the reign of Zhengde Emperor (1502-1521) in Yixing, China.
